ile we’ve known plenty about the Blackphone for some time, the company stayed mum on the details of the processor fueling it inside—until now. The phone will feature a quad-core, 2GHz Nvidia Tegra 4i mobile processor, a chip that was originally announced last year. Based on ARM’s Cortex-A9 r4 C, the chip utilizes 60 graphics cores, has an integrated software-based i500 E modem, can render 1080p high-definition video. It’s also a boon for Nvidia, a company that’s struggled to woo mobile device manufacturers to consider its chips for phones tablets. The Blackphone also comes with a single microSIM slot, 16GB of storage, 1GB of RAM, a 4.7-inch I HD display. It’s packed with a 5-megapixel front-facing camera, so those who love selfies might want to hold tight for this particular device—especially since the security-minded software will likely ensure those photos don’t get into the wrong hs. And the Blackphone will run a specially forked version of Android 4.4 KitKat called ivatOS. Geeksphone hasn’t announced an official launch date for the Blackphone, but the company has begun taking pre-orders.
