Samsung and T-Mobile have started rolling out the Android 5.1.1 update for the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 edge in the United States. The 638MB OTA update brings with it some much needed bug fixes and usability enhancements to improve the overall experience of using the handsets. The AOF6 firmware for the handsets also bring in anti-theft protection. The feature is automatically enabled if Galaxy S6 or S6 edge owners have a pattern or password lock enabled on their handset after installing the Android 5.1.1 update. With the feature enabled, the phone can only be activated after a factory reset if the user signs in with their Google ID credentials.

Other notable bug fixes in this update as highlighted by T-Mobile include: It is unclear if the update solves the poor memory management and memory leak issues present in the existing firmware of the handset or not. The update also does not bring manual shutter control and RAW support to the camera app, as previously reported by SamMobile.  With Samsung updating the T-Mobile variant of the Galaxy S6 to Android 5.1.1, the update for the international variant of the handset should not be far away.
